Graphic Novel Master Class with Ariel Schrag

Learn the ins and outs of making a graphic novel with one of the most successful practicioners the form.
Ariel Schrag, who teaches a graphic novel writing workshop at the New School in New York, is the author of the graphic novel quartet 
AwkwardDefinitionPotential, and Likewise, which chronicle her four years at Berkeley High. In this lecture and workshop, Schrag will explore key elements of creating a graphic novel, including:

  • Narrative options
  • Style
  • Depicting contents through page layout
  • Narrative pacing
  • Comics vocabulary and material
  • Discussion of major artists Art Spiegelman, Daniel Clowes, Chris Ware and Marjane Satrapi
